Dolce di Rossano
Extra Virgin Olive Oil from the Jonian Presila Hills
Produced by Federico Giudiceandrea – one of the finest Italian extra virgin olive oils.
Olive oil is the heart of the Mediterranean diet – a healthy and natural product obtained directly from olives through mechanical processes only. Cold-pressed, this oil reflects the harmony of the landscape and respect for local traditions.
The combination of green and yellow tones gives the oil a unique golden shimmer, enhancing its complex aromas. Its distinctive taste features an elegant balance of sweetness, slight bitterness, and delicate spiciness.
A product with a millennia-old history
The first evidence of olive cultivation in Italy dates back to the 7th century BC, when Greek settlers introduced this plant to Magna Graecia. At the time, olive oil was used for lighting, cosmetics, and, of course, cooking.
For the ancient Greeks, the olive tree was sacred. Ancient varieties began yielding enough fruit for oil production only after 50 years, making each tree a gift for future generations.
The Athenian Constitution by Aristotle from 350 BC decreed: "Anyone who has uprooted or cut down an olive tree, whether owned by the state or private individuals, shall be brought to justice and, if found guilty, sentenced to death."
